Sebastian Rudy, who spent only one season with Bayern Munich, has signed a 4-year deal which will keep him at Schalke until 30 June 2022. The centre midfielder will wear the number 13 jersey for the Bundesliga runner-ups.
Schalke manager Domenico Tedesco said: “We are delighted to have brought Sebastian here to Schalke. He will be a very intelligent and technically strong addition to the squad with his domestic and international experience. We are certain that a player of his quality and experience will greatly benefit our youthful squad.”
A true veteran of the game with 235 Bundesliga, 23 DFB-Pokal and 9 Europa league appearances to his name. Rudy is a versatile player who can play across the midfield or at right-back.
Sebastian Rudy started his career at FC Dietingen and later played for SV Zimmern. The midfielder made his Bundesliga debut at the age of 18 in 2008 for VfB Stuttgart.
The 28-year-old made 35 appearances for Bayern, as he helped his side win the German title along with the DFB-Pokal and reach the Champions League semi-finals last season.

On an international level, Rudy has earned 26 Germany caps and was also part of 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup-winning ensemble. The midfielder was then selected for Germany’s 2018 FIFA World Cup squad, but he suffered a terrible nose-break in the group game against Sweden, which concluded his World Cup campaign early.
Speaking on the move, Rudy said: “I am convinced by the club’s ethos and want to be a part of it. I like the path Schalke are taking and want to be a part of it. I’m really looking forward to playing in front of the fans and the atmosphere in the stadium.”
Sebastian Rudy might make his debut for Schalke as they take on Hertha BSC in their next Bundesliga fixture on Sunday, 2nd September.
