It was a clash of the giants and a decisive encounter for the table in Serie A. An attacking prowess in the form of Napoli faced a determined and sturdy team in the form of AC Milan. A mouth-watering encounter kicked off, as both the sides began pressing forward in the attack early in the game.

While it was AC Milan who did most of the damage in the first half, with two clinical finishes. The first of the two finishes came from the Italian midfielder Giacomo Bonaventura, who slapped the ball home from a close-range in the 15th minute of the encounter.

There was never a chance that the new goalkeeper David Ospina to stop the goal from the Italian midfielder. With Dries Mertens on the bench, Napoli were hell-bent on the Polish midfielder Piotr Zielinski to lead the team.

However, going into the break Milan were the better side with a host of chances against Napoli in the encounter. Further, in the second half, AC Milan full-back, Davide Calabria doubled the lead for the Red and Blacks with a neat finish across the goalkeeper.

2 – 0 down and under, Napoli needed a player to step up on the night. It was the Polish midfielder Zielinski, who brought the team from Naples back in the game. With a clinical finish in the 53rd minute, the midfielder opened the scoring for Napoli at 1 – 2 on his left-foot.

Further, the second goal from Zielinski was the show-stopper. The Polish midfielder slapped home first-time after Tiemoue Bakayoko cleared the ball to his path. The on-rushing midfielder connected the volley first time crashing the ball into the net to draw level against Milan.

Late drama was in the display as the substitute and the Belgian forward Dries Mertens poked home from close-range to give Napoli a thrilling 3 – 2 win against Milan. Ancelotti’s side were up and away in the league with six points in two games, while Gattuso’s Milan had questions to answer.
