Antonio Conte’s relationship with the club started deteriorating the day Conte told Diego Costa that he doesn’t have a future at Chelsea infamously via text message. Costa was eventually sold for 57 Million Pounds to Atletico Madrid. The Chelsea Board believed that had Conte, and Costa not made the Transfer public, Chelsea could’ve gotten at least 20 Million Pounds more for the World Class Striker. Furthermore, the Former Manager’s constant public criticism of the Board’s Transfer policy didn’t go down well with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.
Leading up to the FA Cup Final, a lot of reports suggested that Antonio Conte would be shown the door soon and Maurizio Sarri’s name had already started creeping up.
