Who has the most to prove at Juventus this season? - Alex Sandro

Hopes are high going Into the new season for Juventus that kicks off this Saturday against Chievo and rightly so. Juventus fans have seen a bit of everything this transfer window. From the unexpected signing of superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to a REALLY unexpected signing in the form of Bonucci and to the inevitable signing of Emre Can, they really have seen everything. This new look squad have the sole ambition of winning the most coveted trophy of them all – The UEFA Champions League. That being said, there are a number of players who need to prove themselves to the manager this season. I now present the players who in my mind have the most to prove this 2018-19 season.

Alex Sandro

The Brazilian full-back has had a dip in form lately after being renowned as one of the best left-backs in the 2016/17 season. It was to such a great extent that Asamoah was chosen on many occasions due to his reliability. compared to his previous season’s at Juventus, Sandro’s performances at the 2017/18 season was much below par. His attacking prowess was noticeably much less effective but what was of greater concern was the decline of his defensive abilities. After being a lock-down guy for almost all of 2016-17, including keeping Lionel Messi in his pocket, Sandro struggled to keep some of the most modest of wingers at bay on the wing. He was nowhere near as strong at the back, and that is something Juventus must hope he can correct quickly.

Sandro needs to get back to what he is capable of doing and must do it as soon as he can. Missing out on the World cup can also be an added motivation for the Brazilian to remind the world what he is truly capable of. Juventus fans already have a taste of what he can do when he is in form and will be hoping to see much more of that on a more consistent basis.  In a position that is becoming more dynamic each year, Sandro has the talent to be one of its shining proponents.
