Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of Cameroonian forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting from Championship side Stoke City.

A statement from the club’s official website read: “Paris Saint-Germain is pleased to announce the arrival in its squad of Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. Arrived from the English club Stoke City, the German-Cameroonian striker has signed a two-year contract with the club of the capital, until June 30, 2020.”

Choupo-Moting started his professional career at Hamburg SV, a major club from his hometown. He then joined FSV Mainz 05, where he worked under current PSG head coach Thomas Tuchel between 2011 and 2014. The forward later joined Schalke 04 and played there from 2014 to 2017 before eventually joining English side Stoke City.

The 29-year-old is a football veteran with 204 Bundesliga, 30 Premier League and 27 European competition appearances, including 11 in the UEFA Champions League.

President of PSG, Nasser Al-Khelaifi said: “We all welcome Eric Maxim, whose signing closes our transfer window. He is a player with long experience, especially in Germany and in the jersey of the Cameroon team, two countries that are solid references in international football. His profile complements our workforce in view of the deadlines that await us this season. Our players and the entire club will be able to give him the best welcome, as well as our supporters. “

After playing in all of the German youth categories, from u-18 to u-21, the striker decided to become a Cameroon international, competing in the 2010 and 2014 World Cups as well as the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations with Cameroon. Now, Choupo-Moting has earned 45 caps and scored 13 goals for the Cameroon national team.

Speaking about his move, Choupo-Moting said: “I feel extremely honored to join today in this European top club that is Paris Saint-Germain. I want to thank the leaders and the coach for the trust they put in me by recruiting me. I will strive to do my best on the field, day after day, to express my appreciation for my new club. Coming to France, this great football country, marks a fantastic step in my career. I will have extraordinary players as teammates every day and I am already looking forward to discover the atmosphere of the Parc des Princes! “

Schalke 04 have completed the signing of Germany international Sebastian Rudy from defending Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich. 

Sebastian Rudy, who spent only one season with Bayern Munich, has signed a 4-year deal which will keep him at Schalke until 30 June 2022. The centre midfielder will wear the number 13 jersey for the Bundesliga runner-ups.

Schalke manager Domenico Tedesco said: “We are delighted to have brought Sebastian here to Schalke. He will be a very intelligent and technically strong addition to the squad with his domestic and international experience. We are certain that a player of his quality and experience will greatly benefit our youthful squad.”

A true veteran of the game with 235 Bundesliga, 23 DFB-Pokal and 9 Europa league appearances to his name. Rudy is a versatile player who can play across the midfield or at right-back. 

Sebastian Rudy started his career at FC Dietingen and later played for SV Zimmern. The midfielder made his Bundesliga debut at the age of 18 in 2008 for VfB Stuttgart.

The 28-year-old made 35 appearances for Bayern, as he helped his side win the German title along with the DFB-Pokal and reach the Champions League semi-finals last season.

On an international level, Rudy has earned 26 Germany caps and was also part of 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup-winning ensemble. The midfielder was then selected for Germany’s 2018 FIFA World Cup squad, but he suffered a terrible nose-break in the group game against Sweden, which concluded his World Cup campaign early. 

Speaking on the move, Rudy said: “I am convinced by the club’s ethos and want to be a part of it. I like the path Schalke are taking and want to be a part of it. I’m really looking forward to playing in front of the fans and the atmosphere in the stadium.”

Sebastian Rudy might make his debut for Schalke as they take on Hertha BSC in their next Bundesliga fixture on Sunday, 2nd September.

Ligue 1 defending champions Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of Thilo Kehrer from Bundesliga side Schalke 04.

The 21-year-old German defender signed a 5-year deal with the club which runs until June 30, 2023, with the transfer fee is reported to be €37 million

Speaking about the move, President of PSG Nasser Al-Khelaifi said: “We are very pleased to welcome to our club a player of the quality of Thilo Kehrer. Over the course of his career, Thilo has learned to play in different game systems and at different positions, both in defence and midfield, which will offer many options to our coach, who knows him very well. 

“Several big clubs wanted him and it was at Paris Saint-Germain that he made the strong choice to continue his ascent in European football. His coming is part of our strategy to train and attract the greatest talents of tomorrow in international football, with the ambition to make them progress alongside great players very experienced. “

The young defender, a native of Stuttgart, Thilo Kehrer is considered as one of the most promising German talents of the new generation. Regularly adjusted in the youth squad since 2012, he currently captains the Germany U-21.

The versatile defender made his debut for Schalke in the Bundesliga on 6 February 2016. The next two seasons he amassed a total of 59 matches and scored 4 goals in all competitions for the German side. The previous season, the 21-year-old was one of the key players on the Schalke side which 2nd in the Bundesliga.

Now, Kehrer joins the French champions for a new challenge and will wear the no.4 shirt for the coming season.

Kehrer becomes just the 2nd major signing of the summer for PSG after the arrival of Italian legend Gianluigi Buffon on a free transfer from Juventus.

Howedes – Schalke defender joins Lokomotiv Moscow

Benedikt Howedes joined Russian League Champions Lokomotiv Moscow from his boyhood club Schalke.

The Russian club have completed the signing of German defender from Schalke 04 for €5 millionHowedes signed a 4-year deal with Lokomotiv Moscow.

Schalke’s Sporting Director Christian Heidel wished the defender luck for his the new chapter of his career in Russia.

Christian Heidel said: “Last summer, Benedikt looked for a new challenge at Juventus. We wish him all the best in the new sporting chapter of his career at Lokomotiv Moscow.” 

Howedes spent 16 years at Schalke, advancing within the club to mature into the first-team captain. The 30-year-old made 240 Bundesliga appearances and was a member of the squad that won the DFB-Pokal in 2011. 

Howedes made his Schalke debut in 2007, in a Champions League match against RosenborgThe defender won a German Cup and Supercup and was a part of the Juventus squad that landed their 7th consecutive Serie A title last season. Howedes also earned 44 caps for his nation and was an ever-present figure in the 2014 World Cup-winning side. He started all of his country’s matches as Germany triumphed at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

However, the German international has been plagued by a series of injuries in the last couple of years. The 30-year-old spent last season on loan at Juventus but failed to make a profound impact and returned to the German side. He was only able to play 3 Serie A matches during the 2017-18 season. However, Lokomotiv Moscow’s poignant medical tests conducted in Italy did not expose any concerns that would prevent Howedes from joining the Russian club.

Borussia Monchengladbach have completed the signing of Alassane Plea from Nice for a reported fee of €23 million. The 25-year-old French striker will hope to replicate his form from last season as he netted 16 goals in the French league.

Borussia Dortmund have signed France U21 captain Abdou Diallo from Bundesliga rivals Mainz. The 22-year-old defender who cost them €28 million penned a five-year deal with BVB.
