Though Pogba and Mourinho’s relationship seemed to worsen with every passing game considering Mino Raiola’s antics back in August, Pogba’s continuous comments off the pitch and Constant rumors linking him to a move away from Old Trafford. Pogba’s remarks post the Wolves game, seemed to be the last straw for Mourinho, the Frenchman said “We are at home, and we should play much better against Wolves. We are here to attack. When we are at home, we should attack, attack, attack. That’s Old Trafford. I’m not the manager, I cannot, like, say that, but obviously, we should show more options of playing.”
It’s been reported that Mourinho had an intense argument with Paul Pogba in the dressing room post the Wolves game and that’s when he allegedly told Paul Pogba that he would never Captain Manchester United while he’s Manager. Jose Mourinho went on to even address Pogba’s demotion after the Derby game, “The same person that decides that Paul is not the second captain anymore is the same person who decides that Paul was the second captain. Myself. I am the manager; I can make these decisions.”
Further when he was asked about the ‘fallout’ Jose downright denied it with his usual cockiness, “No fall-out at all, no problems at all, just one decision that I don’t have to explain.” It’s clear that all isn’t rosy between Pogba and Jose Mourinho, and usually, in Modern day Football, it’s the Marquee Player that holds more weight at the Club than the Manager. But with reports emerging regarding Pogba’s Agent, Mino Raiola set to meet with United’s representatives to finalize a move away; it might just be Pogba who leaves the Club before Mourinho.
