Gelson Martins moved from Atletico Madrid to AS Monaco, Mehdi Benatia to Al-Duhail and more in this week’s Transfer roundup.

Martins to Monaco on Loan: Gelson Martins has traded the La Liga for Ligue 1 having joined the Los Rojiblancos only this summer. The Portuguese International has had a very up and down year filled with challenges, from canceling his Sporting Lisbon contract in the Summer and signing for Atletico on a free to move to a struggling Monaco team after registering only 12 appearances with virtually no contribution.

Martins was also linked to a move to Newcastle United with Rafa Benitez desperate to add attacking reinforcements to his side, but in the end, it was Monaco who won the race for Martins. Monaco would be hoping that signing this prodigal Portuguese talent can inspire the Principality Club to survival. Monaco are currently languishing at 19th place in the Ligue 1 and will be hoping the acquisitions of Cesc Fabregas and now Gelson Martins can bring some spring in their step to help them fight the relegation battle ahead of them.

Mehdi Benatia to Al-Duhail for €8 Million (could rise to 10 Million):

Juventus Centre-Back Mehdi Benatia has rejected a move to Premier League giants Manchester United who reportedly matched Juventus’ valuation of the player and offered him a £3.2 Million per year wage. The Morrocco captain rejected the Red Devils to join Qatar Stars League Club Al-Duhail on an undisclosed wage that is reportedly more lucrative than Manchester United’s offer. Just goes to show Qatar’s financial might.
