Manchester United have announced the signing of Brazilian Midfielder Fred and Portuguese Right-Back Diego Dalot, How do the new recruits fit in and what do they offer Jose Mourinho.

Fred (Central Midfield)

Fred is a modern midfielder in every sense, he can press, defend, dribble and even has a good passing accuracy of 84%. Fred is the kind of player every team needs, the midfielder that makes the team tick, a lot like Compatriot Fernandinho, Fred would be expected to push the ball forward when in possession and win the ball back with interceptions and a good press.

Fred’s former coach at Shakhtar Donetsk Under-21 Miguel Cardoso was all praise for him “If Fred needs to fight, he’ll fight. When he needs to play, he plays. He’s very brave, very brave. He’s a player with great ambition, that doesn’t have a fear of playing in any situation, any context.”

“So, whatever Jose will ask of him, he will try to do it well. He’s also decisive, that I think Mourinho will like.” Cardoso added.

The Prospect of Fred, Pogba, and Matic in Midfield for the coming season is something that would frighten the opposition.

 Diego Dalot

The Portuguese Right-Back has been an interesting signing, having made only seven first-team team appearances for former-club Porto, Dalot is relatively an unknown entity. Manchester United Manager, Jose Mourinho who is also Portuguese, has praised his compatriot “In his age group, he is the best full-back in Europe, he is an extremely talented young defender with all the qualities to quickly become a great player for this club.”

Mourinho predicts a bright future for the full-back,“He has all the attributes that a full-back needs: physicality, tactical intelligence, and technical quality, combined with a Porto academy mentality which prepares players for the maturity they need at the professional level.”

Manchester United fans would be hoping that Jose Mourinho knows what he’s talking about and Dalot doesn’t suffer the same fate as another ‘excit3ing full-back’ they signed in the summer of 2014. If you haven’t guessed already, I’m talking about Luke Shaw.

If Dalot can quickly learn from fellow Right-back, Valencia and hit the ground running, who knows this could be a really good signing.
