Twitter reacts to Toni Kroos’ spectacular goal

Germany‘s World Cup hopes are still alive after they completed an emphatic comeback against Sweden to win 2-1 on Saturday thanks to a baffling stoppage-time strike from Toni Kroos.

Die Mannschaft was facing certain elimination after Sweden scored early on, only for Marco Reus and Toni Kroos to save the day, helping them register their first three points of the competition after losing their opening game to Mexico.

Although Marco Reus’ goal was crucial at the time and significantly lifted the German spirits, Toni Kroos’ goal was truly one of a kind. The Real Madrid Midfielder produced a spectacular effort which struck the top corner of the net in the dying minutes of the game. The German Talisman addressed a major issue of the divided opinion of the fans back home and he claims that the goal was the answer to them.

Kroos said: “I had the feeling that a lot of people would be happy in Germany if they eliminated us, but we are not going to make it so easy for them. We will not be sent to the streets easily.”

Germany boss Joachim Low was pleased with the win, highlighting Kroos’ contributions while revealing that he told his team to continue playing their brand of football despite conceding in the game early on. He believed that Kroos made amends and more with his unbelievable goal in the 95th minute.

“I was very pleased for him. He was obviously involved in the mistake with the Swedes scoring the first goal. It was an unfortunate incident but what he did very well was this free kick in the dying minutes,” said Low

The Germans earned their fully deserved 3 points after a scintillating game. Die Mannschaft must beat South Korea in their final group game if they are to qualify for the knockout round. After such an emotional win, they will look to carry their passion forward.
