Rooney has been DC United’s biggest Marquee signing and if you look at his numbers and compare them to that of the other big name players like Thierry Henry, Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard or even Robbie Keane it’s clear that Rooney has had the biggest impact, Individually as a player and on the Club. Before Rooney joined the Club, DC United had only 11 points from 14 games with a Goal difference of -6 and since he arrived the Club are doing instrumentally better with 33 points from 17 games with a Goal difference of +13.
Rooney just recently scored a brace against New York City FC on Sunday, the goals took his personal tally to 12 for this Season and the fact that New York City FC is a sister Club to Manchester City would have made the Victory all the more sweet for the Manchester United Legend. That wasn’t the only reason to celebrate as the win also Sealed DC United’s place in the Playoffs. Rooney spoke about the achievement “I don’t think I have to explain to anyone what’s happened. I think the people who care to see it will see we’re going with great momentum. It’s a great achievement to go from where we were to the playoffs.”
Many Pundits and fans are wondering whether Wazza rushed to a decision and left European Football too early. The MLS is considered a Retirement home for Footballers who come here way past their prime, attract a few fans, make some money and then hang up their boots. But Rooney looks far from finished, he has that hunger and drive to succeed. Sure the MLS is nowhere on the same level as the Premier League but the Impact he’s had has been immense and no one will be surprised if some European Club comes knocking for his services.
