West Ham United proceeded to sign Paraguay international Fabian Balbuena this summer. The 26-year-old defender joined the Hammers from Corinthians for an undisclosed fee, penning a three-year deal. A strong centre-back with an eye for goal, Balbuena previously enjoyed success in Brazil and his home nation of Paraguay, winning individual accolades and league titles in both countries

21-year-old centre-back Issa Diop joined West Ham United from Ligue 1 club Toulouse on a five-year contract with the club. Diop made 34 appearances in the Ligue 1 scoring 3 goals and providing 1 assist in the process.
