After the Test Series, West Indies and India will battle for the victory in the 1st ODI.
Team India has dominated every series which they have played at home. Whether it is Australia, England, South Africa, or New Zealand, India’s domination continues to rise.
Their recent win over the Windies is the prime example of that. India won the test series 2-0 and both the test matches were won on the 3rd day.
This was India’s 10th win on the trot and West Indies haven’t won a single test match on the Indian soil since 2002.
Now West Indies needs to forget all that and try to win the ODI series.
The first One Day International match between India and West Indies will be played on October 21st, 2018 at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
West Indies batting will be tested again, it has been a huge worry for them. In the test series, Roston Chase was the only player from the West Indian side to score a hundred. Skipper Jason Holder also got to his impressive fifty. But the rest of the team needs to bat well.
That won’t be that easy in front of the Indian bowlers, who are in their prime form. The Indian bowlers are coming from a very good win in the test series and before that, they also did well in the Asia Cup.
Batsmen like Jason Holder, Roston Chase, Shai Hope, and Marlon Samuels hold the key for the Windies in the ODI series.
They need runs from their 4 experienced players.
They will need to play out the new ball on its merit.
Even though India is playing without Bumrah and Bhuvi in the first 2 ODIs, but the other bowlers can’t be taken lightly. Umesh Yadav and Shami will operate the new ball. The West Indian openers need to be careful against them.
But the problems for the West Indies is over if they play the new ball well. Their batsmen should bat very carefully in the middle overs too.
India has picked up 3 spin bowling option for the 1st two ODI matches. Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja are in good form. India also has Yuzvendra Chahal in their squad.
The visitors should be very careful while batting against these quality bowlers. The Windies batsmen should show some fighting spirit and they should bat with intent if they want to do well in the first ODI.
Their bowling will also be tested, West Indies have an inexperienced bowling line up. Their bowlers will face a stern test when they will ball to the likes of Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Amabti Rayudu and Ravindra Jadeja.
Kemar Roach and Devendra Bishoo will be the key players for West Indies.
Both the players will have a decent experience which might help their team’s cause.
India, on the hand, will try to experiment for the number 4 spot.
Ambati Rayudu will be the player who will bat at this number, whether the search for the number 4 spot will be over, it will purely depend on Rayudu’s performance.
Umesh Yadav will be eyeing to cement his spot in the ODI side. He will replace Shardul Thakur, who is out due to injury in his debut test.
Mohd Shami too has not been a consistent member in the ODI side. That’s mainly because of his injuries. He would also like cement his place in the ODI squad. Rishabh Pant up may get his maiden ODI call-up. Pant will have to show his class in the ODI format. Pant has been included have to bat at number 6 and finish the games for India, just like MS Dhoni.
He is the cover for MS Dhoni, due to MSD’s poor run with the bat. Pant will do what Dhoni did in his heydays. He has given this opportunity due to his performance was good in test cricket. The form of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Shikhar Dhawan have been good in ODI cricket.
They would be looking to get more runs under their belt before flying to Australia.
India’s Probable playing 11 – Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Umesh Yadav, Mohd Shami, Kuldeep Yadav, and Yuzvendra Chahal.
West Indies Probable Playing 11 – Jason Holder(c), Sunil Ambris, Devendra Bishoo, Shai Hope, Ashley Nurse, Kemar Roach, Marlon Samuels, Fabian Allen, Chandrapaul Hemraj, Oshane Thomas and Kieran Powell.
