“Who will win this year” is the main question floating in everyone’s minds. Our nervousness rises with every match.
Tomorrow is the final match between CSK and SRH, out of which the winner of IPL would emerge. Now, in order to understand who has higher chances to win this time, it is important to analyse both the teams, their strengths, weaknesses etc.
Strengths: Rashid Khan, easily one of the topmost spinners who constantly outperforms himself. He has taken 21 wickets in 16 matches. Not only is he an exceptional bowler, he stands out as a great fielder as well. He has taken a number of catches and pushed SRH to victory. Another great bowler they have is Bhuvneshwar Kumar, although he may not have stood out this time, he is certainly someone to be relied on. Siddarth Kaul is third on the list for the Purple Cap, another strong bowler in the league for SRH. is undoubtedly one of the strongest team on board and considering it performed the best at the auction, it does have a good number of strong players. One of the key players they have is
Their batting too had a number of strong people in the league. At the moment, their Captain and one of the finest batsmen in the world – Kane Williamson is on the top in the race for the Orange Cap. Even Shikhar Dhawan is known as one of the fiercest batsmen and has made a total of 471 runs. He is known for his aggressive batting nature and how he has the tendency to easily score 4’s and 6’s.
Weakness: The middle order of SRH, is not as strong and does have the tendency to fall apart. Players like Yusuf Pathan, Shakib Al Hasan, Manish Pandey tend to be inconsistent and have not been performing well lately, which would be used to CSK’s benefit.
Chennai Super Kings
Strengths: CSK is known for having won several IPL seasons and has been into the finals more than any other team has. With an impressive history and well-balanced team of efficient bowlers and batsmen. Their bowling lineup has a good number of players who have the potential to take CSK to victory. Lungi Ngidi, Ravindra Jadeja, Deepak Chahar have been well recently, having taken 10 wickets each. Shardul Thakur is another good bowler in Chennai’s arsenal who is the highest scorer from the team with a total of 15 wickets and is so is Dwayne Bravo, one of the finest bowlers they have; with 13 runs. Harbhajan Singh and Karn Sharma a be a potentially good spinning duo.
Amongst batsmen, MS Dhoni has time and again proven himself to be a great finisher and his wicket-keeping is really good. Ambati Rayudu is another great batsman, who is fourth in the league to the Orange Cap, with a total score of 586 runs. He has proven himself time and again throughout his IPL season as somebody CSK can definitely rely on. They also have Suresh Raina who can certainly score for CSK. Plessis was the one CSK was able to rely on in the first Qualifier when Dhoni fell out. He essentially saved the game.
Weaknesses: Their weakness lies in the fact that despite having great batsmen, they will have to push harder than usual in order to beat SRH’s amazing bowling lineup. Last time, Plessis was able to pull through in the last match against SRH, but it cannot be said for certain if it could be done again. Usually, when Dhoni falls, the others fall down like dominoes and if happens this time, it is going to cost them a lot. Also, although we have Thakur performing well, during the death bowling, Bravo needs to be given more consistent support, he would not be able to do it all alone.
Thus, after having looked at all aspects of both the teams, SRH’s bowling lineup has the ability to dominate CSK’s batting lineup, which could cause problems for the latter. When it comes to SRH’s batting and CSK’s bowling, they are both on the same level and not much can be said for certain.
All the best to both the teams!
