Crystal Palace have announced that Wilfried Zaha has signed a long-term contract extension with the club.

This 5-year deal will see the Ivory Coast international remain in the Premier League side until the end of the 2022/23 season.

Palace chairman Steve Parish admitted his pleasure at Zaha‘s contract extension, calling the deal “the final piece of the jigsaw”.

Speaking to Palace TV, he said: “It’s absolutely fantastic for the football club. We’re all so committed this year to giving it our best shot, and this is the final piece of the jigsaw.

“It’s nice to put all those stories to bed – stories that we knew weren’t true and were just rumour mongering. Wilfried the player that we’ve seen all summer has done everything properly and right.”

Wilfred Zaha has been at the South London side since the age of 12 having advanced through the club’s academy to now as the club’s joint-highest Premier League scorer of all-time, alongside Chris Armstrong, after his goal against Fulham on the opening match of the season.

Chairman Steve Parish added: “Wilf grew up a stone’s throw from Selhurst Park from the age of four, and has been with the club since he was 12. This agreement is yet another example of his lifelong commitment to the club and our commitment to him. This is an amazing day for everyone here at Palace, our supporters and of course, Wilf [Zaha] – and is richly deserved.”

The Ivorian winger has made 288 appearances for the club since, scoring 44 goals, helping his team achieve, and later consolidate Premier League football.

Wilfred Zaha has been the recipient of the club’s Player of the Year award for each of the past 3 seasons. His scintillating performances last season saw him finish the season with a career-high 9 Premier League goals, due to which he has been rewarded a new contract with his boyhood team.

After signing the contract, Zaha said: “I’m very pleased. Obviously, I just wanted to get it over and done with, so I can just focus on the season. I’m buzzing that we managed to get it sorted.”
