Zidane has always been criticised for a lack of tactical awareness but in terms of man management he’s been right at the top, He brought all the stars in that Real Madrid dressing room together, kept the ego clashes aside and just kept things simple. Say what you want to about Zidane, but he got the job done and he did better than most people. With a lot of reports suggesting that Real’s Talismanic forward, Cristiano Ronaldo had a role to play in Zidane’s resignation. The Frenchman Immediately denied any involvement, “I had the respect of all, above all the players, which has been fundamental in achieving things,” Zidane said. “The players have nothing to do with my decision, it is about what I think.” Ronaldo even posted a farewell message for his Former Manager on Instagram, “I only feel proud to have been your player. Mister, thank you so much.”
President Florentino Perez was shocked by Zidane’s decision and was informed only one day prior to the Frenchman’s Resignation,“As you can imagine, after winning the Champions League, to hear this decision is completely unexpected,” he told a news conference. “It’s a sad day for me and it also will be for the fans and players of this club. I wanted him as a player and a manager and I wanted him to be next to me forever, but I also know that, when he takes a decision, it’s a final decision.”
“It was a huge impact for me yesterday when I heard this decision. I would have liked to convince him to stay on but I know what he’s like. All I can offer is my love and respect and remind him that this is his home.”
“I was in shock when I found out.”
